My father’s name was Michael Maynard. U.S. Marine Corps, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines. September 14th, 2007. Iraq. Baghdad. Two mortar rounds that day.
My mom said the man who came to our door stood there holding his cover for a long time before he said anything. She already knew. I was eleven years old.
I ended up joining too. Maybe I wanted to be close to him. Maybe I thought I would be luckier than him. I came back alive — just covered in burns.
My mom never once acted like I was hard to look at. Even when I was at my worst, she just held my hand and said, “It’s okay. Mom’s here.”

Now she’s going through chemo. Last week she threw up all day. When she finally fell asleep, she was still holding my hand.
I sat beside her bed and thought about how my father never saw me in uniform. Never knew I could do woodworking. Paint birds. Make horseshoe crosses that do not look half bad.
Then I thought — he did not make it home. But my mom is still here. So I go to my garage every day and make these crosses one after another. Not because it is easy. Because he was not here to care for her to the end.
I still can.
I’m not too late.

🐎 A CROSS MADE FROM SECOND CHANCES
Before these horseshoes became a cross, they had already carried a life of their own.
Some came from ranch horses. Some came from family farms. Some spent years on dirt roads, open fields, and quiet country trails.
Now, instead of being forgotten, they are given a second purpose.
Each horseshoe is shaped into a cross — a symbol of faith, strength, love, and the grace to keep going.
For me, that meaning is personal. I know what it feels like to come home changed. I also know what it means to be held together by faith, family, and a mother’s love.

✝ FAITH, LOVE, AND PROTECTION IN ONE PIECE
The horseshoe has long been a symbol of protection, hard work, and perseverance.
The cross reminds us of God’s grace, sacrifice, and the hope that never leaves us.
At the center is a heart — because love is often the reason we keep fighting.
Together, they create a meaningful piece for anyone who believes a home should be filled with faith, family, and God’s protection.
Hang it by your front door, above a fireplace, in a prayer room, barn, workshop, or anywhere your family gathers.

🔨 FROM REAL HORSESHOES
Each Cross My Heart is handcrafted from real reclaimed horseshoes.
No two pieces are exactly alike.
You may see small marks, worn edges, color differences, or signs of age. Those are not flaws. They are part of the story.
Every piece is cleaned, shaped, assembled, and finished by hand with care.
It is built to feel strong, rustic, and meaningful — the kind of piece that looks like it belongs in a real American home, barn, porch, or workshop.

🙏 A QUIET BLESSING FOR YOUR HOME
This is not a loud decoration.
It is a quiet reminder.
A reminder to pray when life feels heavy.
A reminder that love can hold a family together.
A reminder that even after hard seasons, God can still make something beautiful from what was once worn, bent, or forgotten.
Many customers choose it as a gift for mothers, grandmothers, veterans, horse lovers, church friends, and families who need comfort, strength, or encouragement.

🎁 MORE THAN A HORSESHOE CROSS
More than reclaimed metal.
More than a wall hanging.
More than a cross made from horseshoes.
This piece carries faith, love, hard work, and the belief that broken things can still be made beautiful.
For me, every Cross My Heart helps keep my small workshop alive and helps me care for the mother who never gave up on me.
When you take one home, you are not just hanging a decoration.
You are bringing home a symbol of faith, family, and second chances.
May it bless your home.
May it bring comfort to your family.
And thank you for helping me keep going.
